The young couple marveled
together over the beauty and abundance all around them;
the sparkling clear lake spread out before them, the
thick green carpet of grass beneath them, the fruit-laden
vines beside them, the spreading tree branches above
them. A soft breeze brushed her long hair across her
shoulder and the sun filtering through the trees
glistened on his thick wavy hair. They laughed at the
swinging monkeys playing hide and seek among the tree
branches. Two chipmunks left their game of tag to eat
some nuts from her hand.
"This is
a wonderful picnic, Eve, but the berries are a little
sour. Do we have any honey? Adam asked. Eve playfully
tossed Adam a bee hive as the bees meandered about them.
Suddenly, Adam and Eve looked up and exclaimed
in one voice, "He's here!" Berries and nuts
scattered across the grass as they ran hand in hand down
the grassy knoll, across a trickling brook, and through a
meadow filled with wide-eyed creatures, until they
arrived at their usual meeting place. Breathless, more
from anticipation than from physical exertion, they
waited and listened under the emerald canopy of thick
tree branches. Soon the soothing, musical tones of His
voice wafted through the trees like golden rays of
sunshine in the cool of the day.
"Hello, my children, I'm so delighted to
see you! Come closer so we can walk together. I want you
to tell me all about your day."
